This Week in Lincoln Park & Old Town: A Steppenwolf Double Bill
Your week-ahead guide to Lincoln Park & Old Town — 4 picks worth planning around
By Raj Singh · Published June 28, 2026.
Steppenwolf is the center of gravity this week, running Mia Chung's shapeshifting Catch as Catch Can downstairs while a brand-new sketch-comedy show takes the 1700 stage. Add a Sunday dance class and Wednesday's Green City Market and you've got a full week — just dodge the Monday and Tuesday storms.
SUNDAY 6/28
‘60s Style Go-Go @ Old Town School of Folk Music
Instructor Krista — nearly 20 years leading go-go troupes — runs an hour of the mashed potato, the twist, and the Pony, 1–2pm. $20 ($18 members), all fitness levels welcome. Shimmy it off afterward with an old-fashioned at the Old Town Ale House.
TUESDAY 6/30
Catch As Catch Can @ Steppenwolf Downstairs Theater
Mia Chung's wildly inventive drama puts three actors into six roles, bridging generation and gender as a prodigal son's homecoming detonates two families. 7:30pm in Lincoln Park. Pre-show, the tacos at Velvet Taco on Halsted are quick and excellent.
WEDNESDAY 7/1
Green City Market @ Lincoln Park
Chicago's flagship farmers market sets up at the south end of Lincoln Park (1800 N Clark), 7am–1pm — the best produce in the city if you can beat the heat. Grab a griddled breakfast sandwich from one of the prepared-food vendors and eat it on a park bench.
WEDNESDAY 7/1
Women Off-Colour Goes To The Club @ Steppenwolf 1700 Theater
A brand-new ethnic sketch-comedy show in Steppenwolf's 1700 space: Mantra, Anelga, and Alondra perreo through the best (and worst) night of their lives, 7:30pm. Make it a double feature with the Downstairs drama, and grab empanadas from 5411 on Wells in Old Town between acts.
