This Week in Andersonville & Uptown: Midsommarfest Returns to Clark Street

Your week-ahead guide to Andersonville & Uptown — 4 picks worth planning around

By Raj Singh · Published June 10, 2026.

The week culminates in Midsommarfest — Andersonville's biggest annual block party taking over Clark Street on Friday and Saturday. The festival alone is worth planning around, but Uptown opens the week with Alfonso Ponticelli's Django-inflected gypsy-jazz set at the Green Mill, and Chicago Tap Theatre launches their summer season Thursday.

WEDNESDAY 6/10

Alfonso Ponticelli @ The Green Mill

Chicago's premier gypsy-jazz band plays the Green Mill's iconic room from 8 PM to midnight. $10 cover. Ponticelli's ensemble plays in the tradition of Django Reinhardt — hot jazz, fast hands, the booth seats packed with regulars. Uptown. Get in early for a seat at the bar; late arrivals stand. The Mill's Vieux Carré is the drink to order.

THURSDAY 6/11

Chicago Tap Theatre: Saturn Returns @ The Edge Theater

Chicago Tap Theatre opens their summer production with the theme of transformation and return — tap as narrative, not just spectacle. The Edge Theater (5451 N Broadway) in Uptown, 7 PM. Tickets at chicagotaptheatre.org.

THURSDAY 6/11

Multi-Chamber Pride Happy Hour @ Carol's Pub

Carol's Pub is an Uptown institution — the neon-lit country bar on Clark Street hosts this multi-neighborhood Pride networking happy hour. 9 PM, no cover. One of the better ways to walk into Midsommarfest weekend.

FRIDAY 6/12 — SATURDAY 6/13

Andersonville Midsommarfest @ Clark Street

The annual Swedish-heritage street festival stretches Clark Street through Andersonville for two full days — craft vendors, local food stalls, multiple music stages, and the kind of neighborhood crowd that makes you feel like you've lived here for years. Free to enter. Go straight to Hopleaf (5148 N Clark) for a Belgian beer and mussels before the crowds hit.
