Wine in the Park, Post-Punk After Dark
A mild fall Sunday: a wine fest's last call, Interpol at the Salt Shed, and a couple of easy plays into the week.
By Raj Singh · Published October 11, 2026.
It's a soft, bright fall Sunday in Chicago — 71 and partly cloudy, no rain in the forecast, the kind of afternoon that pulls you outside before the week swallows you up. Here's where we'd point you today, plus a couple of low-key plays for the start of the week and one to pencil in.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11
Interpol with DIIV @ The Salt Shed
Interpol bring their North America Tour 2026 to The Salt Shed tonight, with DIIV opening. Formed in New York in 1997, the band helped define the 2000s post-punk revival — all brooding guitars and sharp, propulsive rhythms. The listing promises a moody, high-energy set built, in its words, “to fill a room.”
Showtime is 7 PM and tickets are $90.95. The age policy isn't posted, so confirm before you head over to the hall on Elston Avenue.
10th Annual Lincoln Park Wine Fest @ Jonquil Park
Today is the final day of the 10th Annual Lincoln Park Wine Fest, which has turned Jonquil Park into a three-day celebration of wine (October 9–11). Pavilions set up around the park pour selections from around the world alongside bites and wine-minded extras, with sommeliers and brand ambassadors on hand to walk you through everything — whether you're a curious newcomer or a seasoned aficionado.
It runs 11 AM to 7 PM, and admission is $30. If you've been meaning to go, this is the last call.
Fall Fest at Jefferson Memorial Park
Jefferson Memorial Park (4822 N. Long Ave.) throws its annual Fall Fest this afternoon — a free, all-ages community party built around arts and crafts, a Halloween costume swap and, naturally, pumpkins. Drop by any time between 11 AM and 2 PM; it costs nothing.
Candle Making Class @ Edgewater Candles
Over in Edgewater, Edgewater Candles runs a hands-on candle-making class this afternoon where you design your own signature scent and pour candles to take home. No experience needed — founder Mark walks you through every step in the studio in the Bryn Mawr Landmark Historic District, in a workshop the listing describes as a blend of “fragrance, creativity, and a little science.”
It runs noon to 2 PM, costs $60 per person, and is open to ages 12 and up.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 12
Tagalong Tap Class @ McFetridge Sports Center
Ever wanted to try tap but didn't want to go it alone? Monday's Tagalong Tap Class at McFetridge Sports Center is built for exactly that — an hour-long, open-level class with instructor Mary-Rose where you're encouraged to bring someone along, “from child, to friend, to partner.” No tap shoes required; clean street shoes or socks are welcome. It's $12 and runs 1 to 2 PM, all ages.
Weekday Happy Hour @ Big Star Wrigleyville
If Monday calls for tacos and a cheap drink, Big Star Wrigleyville runs its weekday happy hour from 4 to 6 PM, Monday through Thursday: $8 Ranch Water, $4 Pacifico, a $2 shot of the day and half-price nachos. One caveat straight from the listing — it's off on Cubs home game days.
ON THE HORIZON
Travel Can Be Murder @ The Second City
The Second City revives its Halloween whodunit for a third year with Travel Can Be Murder, opening Thursday, October 15 and running select nights through Halloween. It's a 90-minute, fully unscripted murder mystery — inspired by Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile — spun from a single audience suggestion, with the cast building a live, on-stage case you have to crack before the final line.
Tickets are $30. The Second City sits in Lincoln Park; take the Brown or Purple Line (rush hours) to Sedgwick.
