How it was
This year's edition is over — the lineup, schedule, and notes below are kept as the record of 2026.
What to expect
60th anniversary of Andersonville's signature street fest along Clark from Foster to Gregory, June 12–14, 2026. Maypole dancing led by the Swedish-American clubs, three music stages with funk, indie and DJ sets, makers' market, and the neighborhood's restaurants spilling onto the sidewalks. Saturday opens with traditional Swedish opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. before the gates open at noon. Friday 5–10 p.m., Saturday/Sunday noon–10 p.m.
Transit
Red Line to Berwyn or Bryn Mawr is a 10-minute walk west; the 22 Clark bus runs the festival street and reroutes during the fest. The 92 Foster bus comes east-west. Driving is hopeless — Andersonville street parking is permit-strict and tow-aggressive. Bike parking on Berwyn and Foster is the local move.
Bag policy
No formal bag check; visual at gates. ID at the beer tents.
Family-friendly
One of Chicago's friendliest fests for kids and dogs. Saturday's Maypole dance at noon is a real moment for toddlers; the family programming is genuine. Stroller-easy on the wide Clark Street footprint until ~5 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Restrooms are scarce; use Hopleaf, Big Jones, or one of the cafes (most are accommodating).
Local tips
- Saturday 11 a.m. opening ceremonies and Maypole are the heritage moments — show up early, head to the Foster end.
- Hopleaf is the unofficial fest HQ; their patio fills by noon Saturday so go early or hit Big Jones for brunch.
- Sunday afternoon is the calm play — same fest, half the crowd, easier strolling.
- Andersonville's brick-and-mortar shops (Women & Children First, the Brown Elephant, Roost) all run fest specials and are worth ducking out of the music for.
- The pet parade-ish dog scene is real — bring your dog if it's social, leave it home if it's not.
- Beer-tent lines at the Foster stage are 2x faster than the Catalpa stage for some reason — locals know.
- The Swedish bakery presence (cinnamon rolls, kanelbullar) is fest-defining — find the booth near the church.
