History
Sueños launched in May 2022 as the first all-Latin music festival ever held at Grant Park, founded by Aaron Ampudia and Chris Den Ujil (producers of Baja Beach Fest) in partnership with C3 Presents and Reventon Promotions. The inaugural two-day edition drew 80,000 attendees and generated $120.9 million for Chicago's economy. By its fifth edition in 2026 — spanning reggaetón, música Mexicana, corridos tumbados, and Latin EDM across three stages — Sueños had established itself as one of the premier Latin music festivals in the United States and secured a five-year agreement with the Chicago Park District through 2029.

- El Sueño's complimentary all-day dining is the actual value play if going VIP — math out vs paying for food separately at $329 GA
- Saturday is bigger pop/reggaeton energy (J Balvin); Sunday is regional Mexican heavy (Fuerza Regida)
- Get the wristband shipped — Will Call lines on Day 1 are brutal
- Memorial Day weekend = lots of festival options — many locals split between this and Belmont-Sheffield
Frequently asked questions
Is Sueños all ages?
No — Sueños is strictly 18 and over. A valid government-issued photo ID is required at the gate; printed copies are the only accepted form (photos of IDs will not be accepted).
What's the bag policy?
Small clutch purses and fanny packs 6″ × 9″ or smaller are allowed without being clear, but may have no more than one pocket. Larger bags (up to 12″ × 6″ × 12″) must be clear. Hydration packs are permitted if emptied before entry. All bags are searched — going bagless is the fastest way through the gates.
What time do gates open and close?
Gates open at noon and close at 10 p.m. on both festival days (Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24).
What items are not allowed inside?
Prohibited items include outside food and beverages, glass containers, coolers, umbrellas, chairs, tents, drones, professional cameras with detachable lenses, selfie sticks, and pets (service animals excepted). Smoking and vaping are also banned under Chicago Park District rules.
What is the best way to get to Grant Park?
Public transit is strongly recommended — no on-site parking is available. Take the CTA Red, Green, or Orange Line to the Roosevelt station, or the Metra to Museum Campus/11th Street. The festival entrance is near S. Michigan Ave. and 11th Street.
Can I bring a reusable water bottle?
Yes — empty reusable water bottles and hydration packs are permitted through the gates; just make sure they are empty on arrival. Outside beverages and outside food are not allowed.
