What to expect

3rd annual World Dumpling Fest, September 19–20, 2026, Saturday 11 a.m.–10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Multi-cultural dumpling celebration — Chinese jiaozi, Polish pierogi, Japanese gyoza, Tibetan momos, Korean mandu, Russian pelmeni, Italian ravioli, Caribbean dumplings, Salvadoran pupusas (border-line dumpling), and more from 10+ Chicago neighborhood restaurants. Music, makers, and cultural-identity programming. Note: 2026 venue may be Lincoln Park or Navy Pier's Polk Bros. Park — confirm at chicagoasiannetwork.com.

Tickets

No hard gate admission is currently posted. Food and beverage use paid festival tickets: SEM lists online ticket pricing at 1 ticket = $1, 20-pack = $18, and 50-pack = $45, with on-site tickets at $1 each. Treat it as free to enter/currently no posted admission, but paid to eat and drink.

Transit

Depends on venue. Lincoln Park version: Red/Brown to Fullerton, then short walk. Polk Bros. Park (Navy Pier): Red Line to Grand and the Navy Pier shuttle. Confirm venue at the official site closer to date.

Bag policy

No formal bag check; ID at any beer vendors.

Family-friendly

Outstanding for kids — dumplings are universally kid-friendly food and the cultural variety is genuinely educational. Stroller-friendly at either venue. The 'sample 5 different cultures' approach is the perfect kid-engagement structure. Indoor restrooms at Navy Pier; porta-johns at Lincoln Park venues.

Local tips

  1. Use this as a scouting map for Chicago neighborhoods: the best booth tells you where to go for a full meal later.
  2. Do not arrive assuming old Logan Square or Navy Pier details. 2026 is Wrightwood Park/Lincoln Park.
  3. Buy food tickets in a larger pack if you are sampling with a group; SEM lists online bundle discounts versus $1 each onsite.
  4. Order for range, not volume: pierogi, momo, empanada, dumpling, mandu, or ravioli across cultures beats a single huge plate.
  5. Remember the beneficiary: Chicago Cultural Alliance supports dozens of cultural heritage centers, so the event is also a soft introduction to museums and community institutions.
