Hyde Park Jazz Festival 2026 @ Hyde Park

The Hyde Park Jazz Festival takes over multiple venues across the South Side neighborhood this weekend, September 26 and 27, and Sunday is the second of its two days. The organizers welcome a $10 donation — give it if you can, then drift between stages and simply listen.

It spans multiple Hyde Park venues, so check the festival's own listing for the day's venue-by-venue schedule before you head down.

Cavetown with Chloe Moriondo @ The Salt Shed

Bedroom-pop favorite Cavetown brings the Running With Scissors Tour to The Salt Shed in West Town tonight, with Chloe Moriondo on the bill. It's listed for 7 PM — grab tickets and set times through the link.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27

Puzzle Swap and Raffle @ Manning

Calling all puzzle enthusiasts: the Manning branch hosts a jigsaw Puzzle Swap this afternoon. Bring one or more new or gently used puzzles and take home an equal number — a couple will be set out to work on during the swap, so bring a buddy or make a new friend. Everyone who stops by can enter a raffle to win a Magic Puzzle Company puzzle.

It runs 2 to 4 PM at the Manning branch. For adults 18 and up; swapped puzzles should be complete and in good condition.

Malarkey Comedy Expo League @ Malarkey Comedy

Malarkey's Expo League pitches itself as competition and exhibition rolled into one interactive show — the comedy world's answer to the Savannah Bananas and Harlem Globetrotters. It's built as a Sunday outing for families, friends or a work crew, and it runs monthly, so tonight is a good time to see what it's about.

It runs 6 to 7:30 PM at Malarkey Comedy. Tickets are $10.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28

Edgewater Monday Market @ Broadway Armory parking lot

Chicago's only Monday farmers market sets up in the Broadway Armory parking lot in Edgewater, with more than 40 vendors bringing produce, food, entertainment and more. It accepts EBT/Link, Match Link vouchers, WIC and Senior Farmers Market coupons, so the produce is within reach for everyone.

It runs every Monday, 3 to 7 PM, June through September. The season's near its end, so this is a good week to catch it.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28

Chicago Full Moon Jam @ Palmisano Park

The Chicago Full Moon Jam is a volunteer-run, free gathering where fire performers and drummers share the space after sunset — "a magical evening of radiant rhythms and fire dancing," as the organizers put it. Grab a blanket and settle in.

It runs Monday, 7 to 10 PM at Palmisano (Henry) Park. Free and all ages.

THIS WEEK

Campfire Horrors: The Rocky Horror Picture Show @ Northerly Island

Night Out in the Parks caps the week with an outdoor screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Northerly Island — the 1975 cult classic, R-rated and 100 minutes, out under the open sky. It's a closed-captioned screening, and the film begins at dusk, so the 7 PM start time is approximate.

It happens Friday, October 2, from about 7 to 8:40 PM at Northerly Island Park. Free and all ages.
