Your week-ahead guide to Wicker Park, Bucktown, Ukrainian Village, and West Town — 5 picks from punk shows to the Juneteenth Freedom Market.

Rain this morning, clearing Monday, showers back Tuesday — but this stretch of Milwaukee Ave doesn't slow down. Sunday has two sold-out headline shows (Salt Shed outdoors, Subterranean on North Ave), Tuesday brings the Juneteenth Freedom Market back to the Shed's lot, and the World Cup watch party at Recess runs all week for anyone tracking group stage matches.

SUNDAY 6/14 — Wicker Park Farmers Market @ Wicker Park (Wicker Park)

The farmers market returns to Wicker Park for its 26th outdoor season, open every Sunday from 8AM to 2PM rain or shine. This is the neighborhood's original Sunday ritual — local produce, artisan bakers, flower vendors, and a reliable rotation of tamale and empanada sellers along the park's north edge.

Wicker Park (Damen/North/Milwaukee). 8:00AM–2:00PM. Free to browse. Grab a coffee and a pastry from one of the bakers, then circle back to Big Star (1531 N. Damen) at noon for al pastor tacos and a Tecate when the market wraps.

SUNDAY 6/14 — Amyl and the Sniffers + Party Dozen @ The Salt Shed (West Town)

Australian punk firebrands Amyl and the Sniffers bring their North American 2026 tour to The Salt Shed Outdoors tonight — a SOLD OUT show that's been the most anticipated punk booking in the city all year. Amy Taylor's live presence is genuinely unhinged: expect crowd-surfing, climbing, and a front-of-stage swarm. The Melbourne four-piece formed, wrote songs, and released their debut EP in a single 12-hour session. Party Dozen opens.

1357 N. Elston Ave., West Town. 7:00PM. $64–$115. Sold out — check StubHub for face-value resale. Dove's Luncheonette (1545 N. Damen) does a fried chicken sandwich that's worth the half-hour walk over before the show.

SUNDAY 6/14 & MONDAY 6/15 — Vacations @ Subterranean (Wicker Park)

Australian indie band Vacations plays Subterranean two nights running — both shows are sold out. Their smooth-surfaced sound blends lo-fi guitar, electronic keys, and 1980s alt-pop influences; Campbell Burns writes songs that feel like they were always there. If you have tickets, this is the intimate show of the week. If you don't, camp the resale queue.

2011 W. North Ave., Wicker Park. 7:30PM both nights. $40.50. Sold out. Boeufhaus (1012 N. Western) is two blocks away — the French-German bistro does a tête de cochon if you want something memorable before the show.

TUESDAY 6/16 — 6th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Market @ The Salt Shed (West Town)

The Juneteenth Freedom Market returns to the Salt Shed outdoor lot for its 6th year — a free, all-ages celebration rooted in June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved Black Americans in the Confederacy received word of emancipation. The market lifts up Black creativity and entrepreneurship: local vendors, live music, food, and community programming across the afternoon and evening. One of the most genuinely important events in the city this week.

1357 N. Elston Ave., West Town. 5:00PM. Free, all ages. Come hungry — the vendor lineup typically includes standout Chicago Black-owned food businesses. Save dessert for Kasama (1001 N. Winchester) in Ukrainian Village, the Michelin-starred Filipino spot a few blocks east.

ALL WEEK — World Cup: Chicago Fire FC Soccer Watch Party @ Recess Chicago (Bucktown)

The Chicago Fire has set up a daily FIFA World Cup 2026 watch party at Recess Chicago in Bucktown, running every match through the final. Food and beverage specials, limited-edition merch, and a full house for every group stage game. Check the World Cup schedule for match times — USA games especially will be packed.

Recess Chicago, Bucktown. Hours vary by match schedule. Check chicagofirefc.com for the full calendar.
